Just before Jesus Christ left the earth, he told his disciples, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28.18-20)
Baptism in water is the biblical and historical initiation into a life of following Jesus Christ. It is a sign of repentance (turning from our specific wrong doing and general self-centered way of living, toward God) and faith (trusting in the death of Jesus Christ as payment for our wrong doing.)
At Lake Country Church, we encourage people who have repented of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ to be baptized. A one hour study of the biblical meaning of baptism is offered from time to time. You are welcome to take this class without any obligation to be baptized as a part of your exploration of what it means to follow Jesus Christ. Please call or email the church office if you would like to be notified of the next class.
